In the 1950s combines became equipped with valuable speed drive so combines could keep combining at the same RPM without the driver having to step on or off the petal.

The rotary combine, the TR70, was launched by New Holland. The rotary design features a rotating cylinder in the front of the combine that knocks the seeds from the pods then the rest of the combine separates the seeds from the chaff. The chaff is then ejected out the back where the seed is kept. This design is still in use today.

With the coming of self drivable cars, companies have also been researching how to produce self dirvable combines. Only time will tell.
