  At the beginning of the 20th century, war breaks out in Europe. It included many countries. One side was called the Central Powers this was Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire. The other side was called the Allies which were Russia, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and later the United States.

  The United States enters World War I as Germany submarines started sinking American ships carrying supplies heading for France and Great Britain.

  Germany surrenders to the Allies thus ending the war.

  After the war many Americans enjoyed several years of wealth. More jobs were created, lending both men and women to earn more money than ever before.

  Congress ratified and passed the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution thus giving them the right to vote.

  The Roaring Twenties comes to an abrupt end as banks failed, and people lost their jobs and money. During this time about 25% of the American population is without a job.

  President Franklin D. Roosevelt enacts several government agencies and Acts to help get the country out of this dark time.

  The depression ends as the world builds to war once again.

  Germany invades Poland thus beginning World War II.

  Japan attacks the U.S. military base in Pearl Harbor. This event forces America to enter the war.

  Germany surrenders and the United States drop the atomic bomb on Japan thus ending World War II.
