Treaty of Versailles Signed
The Treaty of Versailles was the peace treaty that ended World War l, the goal of the treaty was to punish Germany for the destruction caused by WWl, since Germany had to accept the blame for starting the war. Germany lost all colonies, had to cut their army while having no air force, and had to pay millions for repairs. -
League of Nations Established
Purpose of the League of Nations was to negotiate agreements between nations that were in conflict. This was the first intergovernmental organization that went worldwide, ceased operations in April of 1946 due to lack of agreement between nations. -
Benito Mussolini takes power in Italy
Benito created the National Fascist party that overthrew the government while initiating dictatorial powers and eliminating rivals in Italy. -

Japan invades Manchuria
Empire of Japan invaded Manchuria after the Mukden incident, an event set up by Japanese soldiers in order to invade the northern part of China known as Manchuria. The incident was a small amount of dynamite blown up by a Japanese solider near the Manchuria Railway that they blamed on the Chinese. This allowed them to invade China and set up a puppet government in Manchuria. -
Hitler appointed Chancellor of Germany
President of Germany agreed to appoint Hitler as he was extremely popular with the citizens of Germany as chancellor which allowed him to exercise dictorial power in Germany. -
Italy invades Abyssinia
Abyssinia went to the league for help, but the league didn't want to get on Italy's bad side and then have to become allies with Germany. Italy invaded Abyssinia to boost the national prestige of Italy which was shut down since Abyssinia defeated Italian troops which then led Italy to join Germany in alliance anyways. -

Nazi leader Adolf Hitler violates the Treaty of Versailles by sending German military forces to the Rhineland, and area of Western Germany along the Rhine, mostly the middle section. The Rhineland was also important because it formed a natural barrier to their neighbor and rival France. -

Germany's Anschluss with Austria was know as the annexation of Austria into the German Nazi's, which began after Germany excluded Austria from the unification of Germany. So Germany invaded Austria, which was forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles. -
