Pearl Harbor's Flames of War

Dec 7, 1941

1500 Americans killed in Hawaii while young American serviceman Jake Deshazer peeled potatoes but he sought revenge after learning of the attack by joining "the invasion of Japan" batallion.

Proclamation No. 2525

Immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt signed the Proclamation No. 2525 declaring that “all natives, citizens or subjects of the Empire of Japan” will be “liable to be apprehended, restrained, secured, and removed as alien enemies.”

Asian Espionage

Feb 19, 1942

Minoru Genda was in favor of bombing the west coast of the United States which led to concerns of an espionage operating in America causing President FDR to issue the executive order 9066.

Japanese-American Citizens discriminated

Mar 18, 1942

President FDR issued Executive Order 9102 in order to provide for the removal from designated areas of persons whose removal was necessary in the interests of national security. This confused the faithful Andrew Kuroda and his family as they were raised and educated in America.

Public Law 503

Mar 21, 1942

Protests occurred at Poston and Manzanar relocation centers caused Congress to pass the Public Law 503 which imposed penal sanctions on disobedient japanese citizens. Ansel Adams a photographer took photos of the unjust actions placed on the japanese.

The All-Japanese American Combat Team

Jan 18, 1943

Secretary of War Henry Stimson tricked Japanese Americans into joining his all-Japanese American combat team. Stimson: "I think that if the thing does work, we will go a long way toward improving our domestic Japanese problem and we may have a real impact on the enemy by doing it if they are--if this idea of racial solidarity can be broken down."

Gordon Hirabayashi was charged by Seattle courts for not abliging with Public Law 503 and so he contested their injustice to not just him but all Japanese Americans. I know I did nothing wrong. We Japanese came to live in the U.S for a reason, and that reason is because we love America.

Fred Korematsu used his basic civil rights to push away the prejudice and hysteria. His defiance against the Executive Order 9066 got compensations for all the Japanese-Americans who lost their homes or jobs through the Japanese American Evacuation Claims Act of 1948

Historical V-J Day Kiss

Japan surrenders unconditionally. Glenn McDuffie: "Everybody had somebody in that war ? an uncle, a father, a friend ? and it was like New Year's Eve that August day when we heard it was over.
