The story of the curse goes as follows: Lucy's ancestress Fenella Scarborough caught the eye of an "Elfin Knight". She turned him down and he got angry, and cursed her. He forced her to be his true love and said that she would get pregnant at 17 by the man of his choosing and give birth then be his (and go crazy). The same thing would happen to her daughter, and so on, unless one Scarborough girl completed the 3 impossible tasks in the song. None have yet, and Lucy is pregnant at 17.
