  • Stock Market crashes

  • The start of The Great Depression

    Worldwide economic depression starting in the United States and spreading throughout the world. 25% unemployed. 5,000 banks and 20,000 companies go bankrupt.
  • The start of the Dust Bowl in the Great Plains

    Goes until 1936.
  • Bonus Army marches in on Washington, DC

    They demanded their service money that wasn't supposed to be given to them for another 13 years. President Hoover used force to remove them.
  • Glass-Steagall Act of 1932 passed

    insures bank deposits of up to $5,000
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt elected President of the United States

    Would later become the president to pull the United States out of the Depression.
  • President Roosevelt introduces and launches the New Deal in multiple waves

    Gave economic relief to all.
  • All banks close for a 4-day "holiday" and Emergency Banking Act was passed

    In hopes that citizens would entrust their money in the bank
