Since the 1500s Algeria was imerialized by the Ottoman Empire untill the French came. They were already controlled by another nation so nothing was differant and everything wasn't new to them. Most of the population was muslim but alot converted to Christianity. -

French are Racist
The French thought they were better then everyone else and treated everyone else like they were second class. They formed systems based on oppression and violence toward the algerians. The French practiced Dirct Rule, which means they were very strick and firm with there decisions. -

In the early 1800's, during the age of imperializm the french were the frist to taget Algeria. the algerians resisted as much as they could till the french seized control and occupied Algeria in 1830. -
Why French Imperialized Alergia
The French came so they could help there economic stand point. They wanted to get the most amout of profit that they could get, to pay dets from past wars. THey needed an investment. -
Rebellion Strikes
The Guerrillas of the NLF launched attacks in many parts of Algeria against military posts, including police posts, warehouses, communications facilities, and public utilies. Frace responded by sending over 400,000 troops to Algeria. -
French get Massacred
Nationsl Liberation Front insued a massacre of the French at Philippeville. The FLN killed 71 French citizens and 52 French enthusiasts, and they killed mostly local polititians. The local French police killed over 100 FLN commandos they also injured hundreds more. Then on the same day, European women and children were slaughtered at their homes areas surrounding Constantine, while their men are working in the mines. -
Independence
The Algerians had an advatige over France because they out numbered them. On Nov. 3, 1962 the Algerians achieved Independant Rule. After all the fighting the Algerians lost 300,00 people and 3 million relocated by force. -
Colinization
once the French left, Algeria had became wealthier, healthier, and more urbanized.
