    Showed corruption in local political system, were people would get favors in return for funding or political support for a particular political representative. Many of the people who made the deals directly were called ward bosses. These ward bosses were usually immigrannts.
  • The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882

    Congressed passed a ban on all Chinese immigration for 10 years. It would continue to be renued every 10 years. The law was passed because people on the west coast were afraid of Chinses immigrants taking jobs and replacing American workers.

    The Gearty Act extended the Chinese Exclusion Act by another 10 years, the Chinese Exclusion act would not get repealled until December 17, 1942 by the Magnus Act. Act was named after the California congressman who created it.
