Ice Caps; Animal Migratoin

  • Affected Animals

"Arctic Climate Change." 5. How Will Animals Be Affected by Arctic Warming? Cambridge University Pres, 15 Oct. 2004. Web. 13 Sept. 2014. With the ice caps melting, migration for animals is promtoed as new ecosystems are formed to due the melting ice. This allows for animal breeding to take place for longer periods of time, however it causes concern fo the spieces already in the artic who may enocunter new dieases.
  • Sea Ice

"Global Warming Puts the Arctic on Thin Ice." Arctic Sea Ice. N.p., 22 Nov. 2005. Web. 12 Sept. 2014. With enviroments slowing disappearing in the artic, animal migrations have an impact on the wildlife, and for the natives living in the artic and depend on this wildlife, it becomes harder for natives to sustain their normal way of living.
  • Marine Biodiversity

David K A Barnes, Stefanie Kaiser. "MELTING OF POLAR ICECAPS: IMPACT ON MARINE BIODIVERSITY." Melting of Polar Icecaps: Impact on Marine Biodiversity (2007): n. pag. Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems. Eolss Publishers. Web. 12 Sept. 2014. Animals who reside in the arctic hae a history of adapting to the changes within the arctic, as their ancestors had to deal with simialr circumstances, however by adapting it will cause newly breed sepcies to be creadted.
  • Affect of GW

Dunbar, Brian. "NASA Finds Thickest Parts of Arctic Ice Cap Melting Faster." NASA. NASA, 29 Feb. 2012. Web. 14 Sept. 2014. The causes of global warming are causing the ice in the arctic to melt at a rate of -15.1 percent every decade, which is a rapid decrease as it gives animals less time to adapt, and or migrate.
  • Govermental View

Corell, R. The View from the Top. N.p.: Tate Pub & Enterprises Llc, 2012. United Nations Environment Progamme. 2012. Web. 11 Sept. 2014. Bird and mammal migrations has changed over the years in the arctic, and has caused tension between countries over territory rights due to the changes in migration. Furthermore, contributing to animals need to adapt.
  • State of Planet

Cho, Renee. "How the Warming Arctic Affects Us All – State of the Planet." State of the Planet How the Warming Arctic Affects Us All Comments. Columbia University, 6 Dec. 2012. Web. 13 Sept. 2014. Another affect of the warming in the arctic affects not only how the migration of the animals take place, but how the overall ecosystem is affected due to these animals migrating. For example, the feeding habits get distorted and cause other animal population to decrease.
