    Charleston’s first tea party occurred on December 3, 1773. Charlestonians called a meeting to decide what to do, and all agreed not to purchase tea. Instead of dumping it into the harbor, they stored it in the Exchange building.

    In April 1775, when British troops are sent to research colonial weapons, they run into an untrained and angry militia. This angry army defeats 700 British soldiers and the surprise victory raised confidence.
