  • HUAC ( Un-American Activities Committee)

    HUAC was created in 1938 to investigate any likely Un-American activities by fascists, Nazis, or communists. After the war had got over many people had suspected communist activities in the United States. Everybody was suspected to be communist they investigated the government, armed forces, unions, education, science, newspaper, and any other thing that had to do with American life.
  • The Red Scare

    People had feared that communists inside and out of American were planning on to destroy American life. This was known as the Red Scare. People wasn't worried about it intil the late 1940s and 1950s. The Red Scare a little before the World War ll had lasted longer than the beginning one.
  • Yalta Conference

    The Yalta Conference was held around the end of the World War ll. This was for the post-war Europe. There was Frankin D. Roosevelt, which was to represent the U.S. Winston Churchill which was there to discuss the dividing of Germany, the formation of the United Nations, German war reparations, the entry of Soviet forces into the far-eastern Front (Japan), and also, the future of Poland.
  • Creation of the U.N.

    On April 1945, representatives from 50 nations, where they met in San Francisco to come together and talk about the U.N. The United Nations was put together on the basis of there combined effort among the Great Powers. Not a complete equality of all nations.
  • Potsdam Conference

    The potsdam conference was on July 18th, 1945. It was held at the Ceciliennof. The countries that were involved was the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. They were represented by communist party, General Secretary, Joseph Stalin. Prime inisters Winston Churchill was there and President Harry S. Truman. They Were there to confirm the decisions they were discussing at the Yalto Conference.
  • End Of World War ll

    World War ll had a big impact on the world. The people involved was the Allieds , which were; Britain, France, China, U.S., Soviet Union, Canada, and many more. The other that was involved was the axis which consist of Germany, Italy, and Japan. World War ll, had ended on August 14, 1945. The war had ended because Axis surrender to the Allies.
  • Hollywood Ten

    HUAC had investigated people who were involve in being communist, people who still was. Hollywood Ten, a group, who had denied to answer questions, because of their Fifth Amendmentrights against self-incrimination. This had turn into s war attacks.
  • The Truman Doctrine

    On March 12, 1947, President Truman spoken to both houses of congress. He decieded to come up with the Truman Doctrine. This was to supply free aid to anybody who didn't support communist. To help stop the expantion of communism.
  • The Marshall Plan

    Congress had approved the Marshall plan, in 1948. United States gave up about $13 billion in grants and loans to countries in the Western Europe. This program helped provide many people with reduce famine, fuel to heat houses, factories, and money to help start economic growth. They also was given the chance to have aid to the satallite states in Eastern Europe, but Stalin didn't alow them to accept it.
  • Rosenbergs

    Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were raised in a poor family. They were two Soviet Spy's working with them to destroy America. Alger Hiss had went to Johns Hopkins University and Havard Law School. Neither the Rosenberg nor Alger Has met each other in they life, but their crimes and trials had connected back to each other.
  • Formation of NATO

    NATO was formed in 1949, which stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. This was to help military alliance to stop the Soviet Union from expanding. Many people disliked the Soviet Union, twelve Western European and North American nations came together and agreed in the defense of Western Europe. They agreed that if any of them get attack, that it would also be considering attack against all.
  • McCarthyism

    The term McCaethyism had camed a catchword for extreme, reckless charges. This was by creating irresponsible allegations. McCarthy wasn't a good politician in the United States. Later he became chairman of an investigations subcommittee. He had affected peoples reputations and jobs.
  • The Korean War (beginning & end)

    In June 1950, North Korea invades South Korea. 90,000 North Korean troops were strapped with powerful weapons. After, that U.S. forces defends South Korea and helped them fight back. Later on November 25th, Chinese attack. UN and South Korea had faught back. Communist gets the UN forces to the 37th parallel. UN forces later in January 10th, 1951, forced communist back to the 38th parallel. Then after this it was signed again, at the same spot of 38th parallel.
  • Arm Race

    Albert Einstein, didn't want to develop the H-bomb. He believes that if it is develop that it would lead to a constant arm race. Many other people believed that Stalin would still create powerful weapons. Even if the United States did or not.
  • Formation of the Warsaw Pact

    In 1955, After West Germany began to associate with NATO. The Soviet Union later formed Warsaw Pact, with it's satellite states. Everyone except Yugoslavia, of the Eastern Europe communist States were members. Also like the people who are members of NATO, the people who affiliated with the Warsaw Pact made a pledge to defend one another if they get attack or invade.
  • The Beginning of The Baby Boom

    After the return of many soldiers from the war. Soldiers quickly began to make up from when they was gone by marrying and making babies. They had put it off because how the war affected them. Then later when everythang seems good, many couples started families. A grand total of 4.3 million children were born that year. This event was known as the Baby Boom.
