The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed. The money collected by the Stamp Act was to be used to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier near the Appalachian Mountains.

    This act told American colonists that they had to provide barracks and supplies to British troops. This angered the colonies alot. The British passed this act to punish the Colonies. They punished them because of their previouse rebelion.

Virginia had the first legislature in the U.S. This legislature was made July 30th 1619, in the house of burgesses. And the first goal for the house of Burgesses was to come up with a minimum price for tobacco. But the house of burgesses was actually only for 20 people including the mayer and who ever the colonists voted for.

Parliament thought the army should be used to enforce, others commended the colonists for resisting a tax passed by a legislative body in which they were not represented. The declaration stated that Parliament's authority was the same in America as in Britain and asserted Parliament's authority to pass laws that were binding on the American colonies.The colonies abandoned their ban on imported British goods.

It initiated taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. The purpose was to raise revenue in the colonies to pay the salaries of governors and judges so that they would be independent of colonial rule, to create a more effective means of enforcing compliance with trade regulations, and to establish the precedent that the British Parliament had the right to tax the colonies.

    Troops were sent to Massachusetts from the British to regulate what was going on and to basically take our freedom and rights from we the people.     the Boston massacre
    The conflicts between the British and the colonists were so great and powerful that when the British were trying to patrol a riot. The colonist got mad and started to throw rocks, bricks, bottles and any other material they can find, even snow balls. The British shot and killed 5 people and injured 6 people.     Samuel Adams Publishes the Letters of Thomas Hutchinson
    Thomas Hutchinson wrote letters asking for colonial corporation and for more British soldiers. They wanted the British soldiers to keep the colonial people in line. The British tried to even violate their own constitution to give us less freedom.     The Virginia Declaration of Rights was drafted by George Mason in May 1776. This declaration was for Americas independence from Britain. Mason wrote that.
