    What: Puritanism was a religious reform movement that arose within the church of England in the late 1600's.

    How: The preists became very poor and didn't "fufill" the spiritual needs of the people.

    What: on September 1620, over 100 travelers set sail to the Americas.
    Where: They sailed on the Atlantic and were heading for Virginia but landed in Cape Cod, not far from plymouth rock

    How: The sailed on the Mayflower
    Why: The English didn't want the children to adopt the traditions of the dutch and abandon the old traditions so they set sail for new land.

    Why: The colonies wanted independence

    - George Washington was a good leader so he was inagurated by the people.

    Where: 363 mile water way i New York
    When: It opened in 1825
    How: It was built by the city of New York
    Why: It was built so that farmers and merchants could transfer goods for less money faster
    Result: It turned NYC into a powerfully economic city for buissness and it was a trading relationship between the North and the South.

    When: March 4, 1830

    Why: He wanted to reform government to "let the people rule"
    How: He attacked politicians whomhe considered corrupt and laws that he thought would limit peoples liberty.

    When: May 13 1846 war was declared and ended 1848
    Why: territory
    Result: on September 14 America captured Saint Annas Mexican capital and ended the war. Mexico signed the treaty of guadalupe and they both brought peace.

    How: The South joined the confederacy
    Why: They fought because the North (Abe Lincoln) wanted to end slavery but the South didn't want that because it was free labor from the slaves and they got more money by that.

    Why:It began because of the use of steam-powered machines, which led to a massive increase in the number of factories.

    How: The stock market crash of October 1929 sent wall street nervous and as a result wiped out millions of investors.
    -consumer spending dropped over the next few years
    -unemployment rates raised (13-15 million americans were jobless)

    What: Adolf Hitler and the natzis re-armed the nation and signed straegic treaties with italy and japan because he wanted to "dominate the world."

    When: Two decades later then ww1
    How: Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939 and drove france and Great Britain to declare war on Germany
    Why: He wanted to "dominate the world"
    Result: 45-60 Million people died

    1948-Marshall plan provides U.S aid to Europe.
    1949-Nato is formed to detend Europe from communist
    1950-Korean War begins
    1970-1980- the Soviet Union is deteriorating

    Why: After World War II, the U.S. and Britain set up a pro-West side in South Korea and the Soviet Union set up communism in the North. The 38th parallel divides the North and the South. The failure to hold free elections in 1948 led to deeper divisions between the North and South.
    At the Potsdam conference, the Allies decided to split up Korea (without telling them).
