    In 1980, a missing slice of pizza inspires Namco's Iwatani to create the one and only Pac-Man. Later that year a version of Atari Pac-Man actually comes out on the Atari 2600. It became the first arcade hit to appear on a home console.

    The Game Boy was the first to popularize handheld gaming. It combined aspects of Nintendo's successful Nintendo Entertainment System. All the original Game Boys were bundled with Tetris. It was a very addictive game developed in 1985.

    Microsoft creates a video game version of the card game solitaire. People who didn't find the game consoles fun found they enjoyed playing computer games. Solitaire became one of the most popular electronic games ever.

    In 1994, Sony releases the first PlayStation in the United States. It sold for $100 less than the Sega Saturn which sold for around $400. When Sony PlayStation 2 releases in 2000, it became the dominant home console, and Sega exits the home console business.

    In 2001, Microsoft enters the gaming market with the brand new Xbox. After four years they came out with the Xbox 360 which gained millions of fans with its advanced graphics and online play.

    In 2006, Nintendo releases the Wii and gets gamers off the couch and moving with their innovative, motion-sensitive remotes. It appealed to not only gamers but also people who never really like video games.

    In 2010, this game shot like a rocket. It came from the Swedish developer Markus Persson. This was one of the most popular games back and is still one of the most played games today.

    This game was a very popular game that was played on your phone. You would walk around trying to find pokemon everywhere around the world. It was also one of the most popular games played. A very big hit.
  • Fortnite

    Fortnite
    In 2019, one of the biggest most popular hit games was Fortnite. I think that game was the most played game ever. It made a staggering $2.4 billion. It was definitely the game of the decade.
