    The first video game, Tennis For Two, was created in 1958 by William Higinbotham. Tennis For Two was a multiplayer game where two players would face off in a game of virtual tennis. It could be considered an early predecessor to Pong, a game with similar features that was created much later on.

    Spacewar is known as the first ever game to run on a computer. Spacewar was created by a team consisting of Steve Russell, Martin Graetz, Wayne Wiitanen, Bob Saunders, Steve Piner, and others. To this day Spacewar can still be played on common desktop computers.

    The Brown Box was the first ever video game console. The console was developed by Ralph Baer and his team in 1968. The Brown Box offered multiple games to be played on one console such as, ping-pong, checkers, four different sports games, target shooting with the use of a lightgun and a golf putting game.

After this release, the gaming community despised the game and it was a major factor in the decline of video game popularity. This period in time was a major low point in the relevance of video games and far less people were attracted to it. E.T. was regarded as one of the worst games in video game history.

    Sony releases the Playstation which featured several never seen before technology such as 3D and enhanced graphics. The Playstation received a lot of praise and began to take over the video game industry. Several other companies began creating their own consoles in order to compete which sparked the new age of gaming.
