    The invention of the first telegraph was completed by Samuel Morse. Morse code, a series of dots and dashes, to create a message that could be sent to a stration operator. The message is called a telegram. He showed the success of his invention by sending, "What hath God wrought?", from Washington, D.C to Baltimore.

    Bell invented the telephone
    Alexandar Graham Bell invented the telephone which replaced the multiple telegraph that was commonly used before. The first phrase that was transported through the telephone by elecricity was Bell talking to his assistant- "Mr. Watson -- come here -- I want to see you." For the first time spoken words code could be transported instead of morse code. Link
