    Foot bags

    Around this time period designs were simple. Back then shoes more resemvled foot bags and were not meant for comfort. Although it is more comfortabl than walking barefoot.

    Around the middle ages yurn shoes were created with drawstrings attached to tighten for a better fit.

    As Europe gained in wealth and power shoes became a status symbol. Which means if you had dingy shoes you were at the bottom of the social chart.

    Since the seventeenth century most shoes have used a sewn in sole.

    Until about 1800 shoes had no difference between the left and right shoe. You could wear either shoe on either foot with the same discomfort!

    An african american names Jan Ernst Matzeliger got his patent for his invention that is the first machine to mass produce the shoe. Before this shoes were mad at home.

    Its only since the twentieth century that the advancements with rubber plastic and sythetic clothes have been applied to the shoe.
  • Modern times!!

    Now a days we have shoes for almost every activity. Shoes have an amazing history and have came a long way from foot bags!!
