    Aristotle

    Aristotle
He changed the belief of the atom. He thought everything was made of wind, earth, fire, and water.

    Democritus Atomic Theory

    Democritus Atomic Theory
He was the first to discover the atom. He believed all matter contains atoms, and the smallest particle of something is an atom.
  • Dalton

    Dalton
He revived the atomic theory. He applied the concept to a table of atomic weights in a paper on the absorbtion of gases developing the law of partial pressures.
  • Rutherford

    Rutherford
He realized that the atom must have almost all of its mass concentrated at its center in a nucleus. He conducted the Gold Foil Experimtent in which he studied the deflection angles of "alpharparticles".
  • Bohr

    Bohr
He discovered electrons. He discovered how they orbit the nucleus without loosing energy, they could move only in fixed orbits, and electrons with low energy orbit closer to the nucleus while electrons with high energy orbit further from the nucleus. He modified Rutherford's model to move in orbits of fixed size and energy.
  • Heisenberg and Schrodinger

    Heisenberg and Schrodinger
Heinsenberg discovered forms of hydrogen and developed a theory of quantam physics. He made an apomerful model of the atom. The two scientists used mathmatical equations and used a model like
    Bohr's model.
  • Thomson

    Thomson
He changed the view of an atom by discovering the electron. His atomic theory suggested that the atom is not indivisible as it was of smaller pieces electrons-protons.
