    This Act is importatnt to multicultural education because ist improves the educaitonal opportunites for poor childre. It was passed as part of the "War on Poverty" intiatives and helps educationally deprived students.
  • The Bilingual Education Act

    The Bilingual Education Act
    The Bilingual Education Act came to light when the federal governmetn provided funding and developed programs for students that needed to learn English as a second language. This Act is impoortiant to mutilcutlural education in the United States becuase it provided access to materials in the classroom that they could understand in their native languages.

    Title IX is important because itgave girls and boys equality in all educational programs. This protected them against discrimination based on sex.
  • The Rehabilitation Act

    The Rehabilitation Act
    The Rehibalitiaotn Act - Section 504 states that all persons with disabilities will receive a free appropriate public education. This is also known as FAPE. FAPE uses individual learning plans (IEP's) to address specific learning needs for each child with disabilies.

    Emergency Immigrant Education Act
    This Act is important because it provides government services to school districts that have large numbers of immigrant children. The unexpected large numbers can be overwhelming and school districts need government services so they can provide addiqute education for the children.

     Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
    This is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against those with disabilities. This includes prohibiting discrimination against children with disabilities in their educational needs as all school buildings should be ADA accesibel.

     Improving America's Schools Act (IASA)
    The IASA Act is impoortant to mutlicultural eduation because it increases funding for bilingal and imagrant students for their eduafiton. It includes funding for charter schools, preventing drop out children and funding for educaiontal technolology.
  • The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)

    The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
    This act reauthorizes the ESEA of 1965 and the Bilingual Education Act of 1968. This act is controversial and mandates that student testing holds schools accountable for student achievement goals. This means that schools will get penalized for inadequate testing scores.

    The Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (IDEA 2004)
    This Act shows the combination of work to improve education for special needs children. The event was very important in the expansion of multicultural education because it provides a high level of expectation when implementing an IEP and identifies specific needs.
  • Every Student Succeeds Act

    Every Student Succeeds Act
    The Act is a big change to the NCLB Act and essentially Every Student Succeeds Act takes its place. The Act makes schools accountable and has four indicators to help. They are proficiency on state tests, English language proficiency, and two other growth plans.
