History of Multicultural Education

  • The Massachusetts Law

    The Massachusetts Law
The Massachusetts law was passed in 1647. It stated that every town that has at least 50 families will hire a schoolmaster who is in charge of teaching the town's kids how to read and write. Also, all the towns that have at least 100 families, they should get a Latin grammar schoolmaster or teacher who will prepare the kids to go to Harvard. I think this is a really important step to take or law to pass because it's fruits we'll all see in the future.
  • Boston Public Library

    Boston Public Library
The Boston Public Library opens to the public. it was the first "free municipal library" in the U.S. This is a huge decision that was made because the public needs to have this privilege of becoming a scholar and have the sufficient resources to read and know more about things, matters, and news.
  • University of Pennsylvania

    University of Pennsylvania
Benjamin Franklin helps to establish the first "English Academy" in Philadelphia what a great curriculum that has both classical and modern and has courses in history, geography, navigation, surveying, besides classical and modern languages. It was known later as "University of Pennsylvania". I believe that this is a very important establishment because it will give people the desire and the variety in what they want to study and the feeling of having options.
  • Association of American Universities

    Association of American Universities
The A of AU was founded and established to promote and aim for high standards and put the U.S universities on an equal level with their European counterparts. This is a very important step or organization to be established because we do not need only to provide education but we also need to make sure that it is in a good standard and quality compared with other countries and regions so that the U.S student has the best quality and value compared to the European student.
  • Indianola Junior High Schools

    Indianola Junior High Schools
The Columbus Ohio School Board authorizes the creation and establishment of Junior High Schools in order to increase and improve the school graduation rates, then the Indianola Junior High School opened that fall and became the first junior high school in the U.S. This was a very important step to take in education because it not only improved or increased the graduation rates but also easied the process on the U.S. student of finishing school and high school to break them down in 2 stages.
  • White boards

    White boards
Whiteboards were replaced instead of the blackboard in U.S. classrooms. a great encouraging move to lighten up the U.S. classrooms, ease up the way of writing notes on the board for the teacher and also a better way to see the notes and explain the material with the ability of using different marker colors for the students.
  • National Career Academy Coalition

    National Career Academy Coalition
Educators come together to form the National Career Academy Coalition. An important conference that shows that the educators care more and far beyond education and would like to develop and work on the process and education as an advancing tool.
  • Student-led Prayer

    Student-led Prayer
The supreme court ruled that the District's policy of allowing student-led prayer prior to football games violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment in the case Santa Fe School District v. Doe. Unfortunately, this is a negative effect on the education through history because students should not feel like they are controlled or prohibited from doing the things they want to do, students are in schools to learn in all aspects and fields.
  • Alabama's Immigration Statues check

    Alabama's Immigration Statues check
Alabama became the first state that requires public schools to check the immigration status of students. even though the law does not require or state that the school prohibit a student enrollment nor report the names of undocumented children. This action was counted as unconstitutional in Plyler v. Doe ruling. This is a very negative act from Alabama to take because children and teens need to be educated for the country future and I don't think the immigration status is that big of a deal.
  • Red for Ed

    Red for Ed
The Arizona teachers strike ends when legislators passed both a pay increase and school-funding plan, this was a huge event to happen in 2018 while at the same time we witnessed several school shootings so this one was very appreciated. Our teachers give more than any other employee in the country is giving, they are teaching, developing and assisting the country tomorrows scientists, experts, and workers. they are pouring information and techniques that we'll all see in our community tomorrow.
