    This event made it illegal to discriminate based on race, color, religion and sex. A progressive step forward in the fight to equal rights. Allowed for cultures and ideas to begin to blend in communities and schools.
  • Project Head Start

    This program provided low income families relief and the low income youth a chance to be educated. Program is still ran to this day and continues to provide to those struggling families by educating the youth in their early years.
  • The Higher Education Act

    The Higher Education Act
    Higher education could now be pursued by those who could not afford it with federal aid and loan availability. Most importantly higher education was possible for minorities.
  • Bilingual Education Act

    Bilingual Education Act
    Congress mandated that schools provide bilingual programs that can assist students that have language barriers. Although assistance varied throughout, it paved the road and brought awareness to the need for these types of programs. Most importantly it gave these students an opportunity.

    The first line of electronic calculators were introduced to the teaching world. This would become a very strong tool that has continued to assist teachers/students and advance the math community.

    This event was a huge win for students that were facing language barriers. Allowed students to receive equal participation in the classroom and were able to flourish. Ultimately, prohibited discrimination of these students.

    National Association of Bilingual Education Founded
    This non profit fights for bilingual and multilingual students. They would also provide bilingual educators with more high-quality development opportunities to help those who are limited with the language barriers.
  • The Immigration And Nationality Act of 1990

    The Immigration And Nationality Act of 1990
    The Visa Lottery would bring in a generation of future engineers, teachers and lawyers. Diversifying our nation and promoting more ethnic groups to migrant and flourish in the United States. Ultimately, bringing different cultures, beliefs, etc, to the melting pot.
  • No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)

    No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
    Held schools accountable to provide a higher standard of education. Gave all students a better opportunity to advance and achieve higher accomplishments. The act is not perfect but was a good step forward.
