    The Lumiere brothers were the first to invent an early motion picture camera and projector called cinematographe. They both also created the film La Sortie des ouvriers de L'usine Lumiere, which was considered the first motion picture.

    A man known as Leland Stanford was at a horse race one day with some of his friends and he told them that at some point the horses hooves do not touch the gorund. His friends did not think that was true so Leland made a $25,ooo bet with his friends. Eadweard Muybridge started experimenting with 12 cameras and took many shots proving that Standfrod was right.

    Zoopraxiscope
    The zoopraxiscope was invented by Eadweard Muybridge and was first shown in 1879. This is also known as "The Wheel of Life" and what this did was it showed a sequence of photographs in a rapid motion. His first Zoopraxiscop was about a horse race. He took many photos of a race horse and put all those photos in motion rapidly to make it seem like the horse was moving.

    Chronophotography
    Chronophotography is a "photograph Gun' that could take a set of photographs of moving objects like animlas and humans. Etienne-Jules Marey claimed to be the inventor of this. Later Louis Aime Augustin experimented with this and because of Marey and Agustin came the first motion picture cameras, projectors, and transparent celluiod film.

    The Lumiere brothers, Louis and Auguste made the cinematographe. They created a more portable camera and was light weight. They made this amera using their own combo. The Cinematographe would be cranked by one hand and would appear on the scrren. They got this idea because of Thomas Edison's kinetoscope. but unlike the Kinetoscope this was much eaiser to see and many peole would be able to watch it at the same time.

    Phantoscope which was invented by Charles Francis Jenkins was a flim projection machine. He projected his first motion picture flim using the photoscope in Richmond, Indiana. The phantoscope was the first projector to hold on to a scene long enough to wait for the next scene to appear.

    First Motion Picture Device
    Thomas Edison made the first Kinetoscope parlor. The kineotoscope Parlor was the first motion picture device to be used. It was made for an audience of only one person. Thomas Edison thought that he would make more money by making only one peron go at a time. You would be able to view the film by looking through a peephole. It did not have a movie projector it was created by creating the illusion of movement.

    The Great Train Robbery was the first silent film to be 12 minutes long ad it was the first movie to be shown in a movie theater where a lot of people where able to watch it. This film was about a group of bandits who hold up a train only to find a determined posse hot on their heels.

    Sound Era
    When the first film with sound came out it was of Al Joslon Singing and many people thought it was weird and strange because they have never seen something like this before. In order for the actors and actresses not to sound weird they had to vocalize their voices correctly. Many people saw these films to get away with their problems because of this hollywood started making movies on fantasy, comedy, nusic, ect.

    The first cartoo ever with sound was Mickey Mouse Steamboat Willie by Walt Disney. This film was only 8 minutes long. This film was about Mickey piloting a steamboat and Captian Pete comes to the bridge and throws him off and minnie goes chasing the steamboat and then Mickey just starts making music.

    Color Era
    A couple years after the sound era came the color era in films. The first two films to have color in it was " Becky Sharp" and " Gone with the wind." At tis time they also started making animation films which was mostly made for children.
  • The Wizard of Oz

    The Wizard of Oz
    This Movie was one of the long movies, it lasted about an hour and 7 minutes. This movie was about a girl named Dorothy that is sept away from her home town by a tornado and is taken to a magical land on a quest to see the wizard to go back home.
