    In the Colonial American period of education, Europeans were motivated to come into a new land for education because of their lack of school systems. Their motivations varied, some seeked economic opportunity, greater religious freedom, & better society. Most schools at the time that existed were mainly for elementary grades and some universities. Schools were viewed as a way to reach goals or teach basic skills for farming.
