  • Janssen-Coin counterfitting

From the date of 1613 to 1619 Janssen was tried in court for counterfitting coins. He grew up next to the Middleburg mint where his brother in-law worked, so it was easier for janssen to duplicate the making of the coins.
  • Antonie van Leeuwenhoek- Improving the microscope

Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek was known for improving the microscope and was considered the first microbiologist. How he improved the microscope was he would take a small rod of glass and put it in the hot flame to create two glass whiskers, after he would re-ensert one of the whiskers to make a small sphere and that sphere would become the lenses of the microscope. The smaller the lense the more magnification it would have.
  • Linneaus

Linneaus established the first classification systems for taxonomy, splitting things into 3 kingdoms (animal, vegetable and mineral) giving scientific names to every plant and animal.
  • Schlieden-Plant

Schleiden concluded that all plants are composed of cells. He also saw the importance of the cell nucleus.
  • Darwin

When Darwin was exploring the Galapogos islands he formulated the theory of natural selection by studying the different finches he had discovered.
  • Schwann

Schwann concluded that all living things are composed of cells. How he came to that conclusion was Schlieden had told schwann of his findings that all plants are made of cells. Schwann found similar cells and other scientists confirmed the similarity.
  • Virchow

Some people may say that Virchows cell theory was that "Every cell originates from an existing cell like it"but it was actually the discovery of a man named Robert Remak. At first Virchow did not believe the cell theory was true but then he realized it could be. So Virchow published Remaks work as his own in 1855.
  • Hooke-balance spring

Robert Hooke invented the law of elasticity, Which led him to the invention of the balance spring. The balance spring is used to keep time accuratly in most time keeping devises such as , watches, clocks, timers etc.
