    Little Rock Central Highschool is where the Little Rock Nine signed up to attend an all white school in 1957. They wanted to take a step closer to meet their goal, desegregation. They knew that it would be a tough time, but they were determined to do so, and they acheived their goals.

    The Little Rock Nine
    The Little Rock Nine were a group of African American students who enrolled in Little Rock Central Highschool in 1957. This was a very controversial, and daring thing to due with all of the racial tension going on about integration.

    Ernest Green
    Ernest Green was one of the brave students in the Little Rock Nine, that pushed the boundaries in order to gain their rights to go to a white only school. They wanted to eliminate segregation.

    Minnie Jean Brown
    Minnie Jean was also one of the Little Rock Nine, but she was unique in her own way. She had a short temper, and got in trouble alot in school, but not because of her race. She intended to pick fights with white students that may harass her. For this reason, she earned the nickname "Tricky".

    Elizabeth Eckford was one of the Little Rock Nine. In this picture, she didn't get the memo from her African American friends to not go to school that day, she got harassed without any protection from the troops, and almost got herself killed. She would've if it weren't for a kind white lady that led her out of the mob.

    Dwight Dwight Eisenhower
    Dwight Eisenhower played a big role in the process of desegregation. He signed many documents, and ordered the army to go to Little Rock, Arkansas to help protect the Little Rock Nine.
  • Governor Orval Faubus

    Governor Orval Faubus
    Orval Faubus used the National Guard to prevent students from attending Little Rock Highschool in Arkansas. Eisenhower over ruled him, and sent federal troops to allow the African American students to attend school. This outraged the white students.
  • Eisenhower Signs Document

    President Eisenhower signs a document that orders one-thousand army troops, along with the Arkansas National Guard to Litte Rock to help keep the Little Rock Nine safe from white mobs. who were all upset due to African Americans wanting to get better civil rights.
