Traten stages a coup against Provincial Governor Afton and takes over the command of Dorish troops to put down an uprising of tribesman in Aerlan. Though his actions are illegal, the people rally behind him. When he has finished putting down the rebellion, he surrenders himself to Dorish law and Afton has him executed.
-
Afton is assassinated by some of the Aerish officers with whom he works most closely, men who regarded Traten, whom he executed the previous year, as a hero. In mainland Dorr, the whole thing is dropped, as it has become politically awkward to side with the memory of either Traten or Afton.

In 732, Vandia’s stirrings of restlessness finally congealed in the person of Titus Airo. He played a role in fighting a particularly violent insurrection, but when it was over he became an outspoken critic of Vandia’s aristocratic regime, blaming their mismanagement and tone-deafness for the rebellion. Charismatic and a gifted commander, Airo quickly won popular opinion and even disgruntled supporters from the upper classes, which laid the seeds for the next year’s events.

3 full legions of Dorish troops are devastated during a battle with a coalition of Aerish tribesmen, led by Glae, son of Erdin. Varyn Gloster, Governor of Dorish Aerlan, vanishes, his fate unknown.

Following the loss of Dorish Legions in Aerlan at the Massacre of the Glen, the republic determines that the province is simply too expensive to maintain, and withdraws, beginning the "Age of Egress".

A blight in Vandia leads to widespread food shortages.

In a swift and ruthless military coup, Airo assumed control of the government, executing rivals en mass. Airo sent immediate word to Deson, with “a sword in one hand, and friendship on the other”, reporting his own rebellion and asserting his claim on the province, still a vassalized state of the republic. Deson hesitated to respond, torn between outrage and calls for vengeance by noble families affected by his coup, and new allies who had benefited from his unexpected generosity.
