    The Battle of Leyte Gulf was considered to be one of the largest naval battles to take place between allied and japanese forces during world war II. More than 400 ships were involved between both sides, with the allied forces outnumbering the Japanese significantly. More than 12,500 Japanese were killed during this battle, as opposed to the 3,000 on the Allied forces, marking this a significant victory for the Allied forces.
