    Marco Polo's Journey Home

    Marco Polo and the rest of his crew begin the journey back to Italy bringing back luxuries such as ivory, jade, jewels, porcelain, and silk. They ventured back by boat, going on a 2-year journey to Venice, of which only 18 survived out of several hundred.

    Marco Polo was taken as a prisoner of war and while in Genoa (Venice's rival city), a writer from Pisa encouraged Polo to write a book about his travels. Marco Polo did write the book and it was published as "The Description of the World; or, The Travels of Marco Polo".
