The largest gap between the richest and the poorest incomes reached a record in the United States. This effects education because the lower income families’ children are almost always more than a year behind those in their grade level. -

1 in 6 children in the United States live under the poverty line. This is relevant to education because children may not have the resources needed to achieve a quality education. -
