    1937-1935 this happened as japan wanted more territory and went to war with china where china then had a full scale defensive battle which stood at a stalemate until there surrender from allied troops in the pacific.
  • Munich Conference

    1938 Hitler, Mussolini, Daladier, and Chamberlain signed a contract saying they would give sudetenland to germany because the 3 million of the people there were germans this deal left czechoslovakia completely open to Germany to invade at any time
  • Nazi-Soviet non aggression act

    August 23rd 1939 Russia and germany discussed shortly before the war began that they would not go to war for the next 10 years. Germany viewed this pact as a chance to invade poland without opposition while russia saw it as a opportunity to build up their military
  • Battle of Britain

    September 7 1940, German and British air forces clashed in the skies over the United Kingdom, locked in the largest sustained bombing campaign to that date. A significant turning point of World War 2, the Battle of Britain ended when Germany’s Luftwaffe failed to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force despite months of targeting Britain’s air bases, military posts and, ultimately, its civilian population.
  • Operation barbarossa

    June 22 1941 The beginning of the german invasion began with over 3 million soldiers and 3 thousand tanks however the germans underestimated the russians because of the failure of taking barbarossa because it forced the germans to fight a 2 front war which eventually was one of the reasons that led to their downfall along with the weather being so cold
  • Battle of Moscow

    July 1941 The russians knew the germans were coming so they told citizens of moscow to build barricade the streets to slow the germans side of things they were fighting multiple disadvantages with the weather and getting supplies with the russian regularly sabotaging the railroad tracks it made it harder for germans to get materials for the battle
  • Pearl Harbor

    December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor is a U.S. naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii, that was the scene of a devastating surprise attack by the Japanese. On that Sunday morning, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes descended on the naval base, where they managed to destroy and/or damage nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight battleships, and over 300 airplanes.
  • Battle of the coral sea

    May 1942 this was marked as the first air- sea battle in history were aircraft was launched from ships and the battle was primarily fought with aircraft this battle happened as a result of japan wanting control of the coral sea but they were intercepted however each sides aircraft carriers sustained damages however japan lost too many planes to be able to continue fighting
  • Battle of midway

    June 4th-7th 1942 the U.S. intercepted codes finding out the japanese plan to lure out the U.S. so the commander of the navy decided to use aircraft to try and destroy the carriers however initial efforts were not successful the carrier based planes had more effect the results of the battle ended with the Japanese lost 322 aircraft and the U.S. with a loss 147

    October 23, 1942 The Battle of El Alamein marked the peak of the World War 2 North African campaign between the British Empire and the German-Italian army. Deploying a far larger contingent of soldiers and tanks than the opposition, British commander Bernard Law Montgomery launched an infantry attack at El Alamein
  • Battle of stalingrad

    August 1952-February 1943 Battle where russians fend off Germans from Stalingrad. In the battle Stalin did not evacuate civilians instead used men to fight and the women to dig trenches around the city and eventually the germans invaded the city and the russians formed a ring around the city closing off the germans to food and vital essentials and eventually won by doing this
  • Invasion of Italy

    July 10 1943 This was a very discreet invasion because after italians overthrew benito mussolini they made a deal with the allies that if they helped get rid of germans in italy they would be punished less during this time a force of 150,000 allied troops came ashore italy and started getting rid of all the germans in italy
  • D-day

    June 6 1944 was the beginning of the operation overlord and dday was the beginning of it when 156000 allied troops landed on 5 beaches marking the beginning of operation overlord also known as the beginning of the end of the war in europe
  • Battle of the bulge

    December 1944 Hitler attempted to split the allied army by using a blitzkrieg right in the middle of the troops so they could cut their forces in half so they could surround and capture the allied troops however allied troops responded by creating a defensive line similar to that of a bulge so they could thwart off the germans which ended up succeeding with the exception of heavy losses
  • Hiroshima and nagasaki

    August 6 1945 and The united states bombed japan this caused japan's “unconditional surrender” this was the first ever atomic bombs created and used these bombings were referred to as the “most cruel bomb”
