  • 20's

    Stay active by exercising every day, eat a well-balanced diet and drink plenty of water. Stay away from high risk activities such as drinking and smoking and visit the doctor annually for a checkup.
  • 30's

    Exercise 30-60 minutes, 5 times per week. Eat a well-balanced diet including lots of vegetables and less sodium. Make sure to get enough sleep! Reduce stress, wear sunscreen and stay away from smoking. Make sure your home has smoke detectors, never drink and drive and always wear a seat belt in the car
  • 40's

    Stay active and reduce stress to keep a low BMI and prevent heart disease and stroke. Get your eyes checked regularly and wear sunscreen daily. Get screened for diabetes and cancer, and get a physical exam and dental exam regularly.
  • 50's

    Stay active physically and mentally, eat a well-balanced diet, get enough sleep and drink alcohol in moderation (and avoid smoking!) Watch for signs of depression, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Both men and women should get screening tests and blood pressure and cholesterol screenings/exams.
  • 60s

    Watch for signs of type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and heart disease. Maintain a healthy body weight by staying active and eating a well-balanced diet. Visit your health care professional regularly. Make sure the fire alarms in your house function properly, take steps to reduce your risk for falls, and always wear a seatbelt while driving.
