the nine years war made Britain try to get rid of France in Hispaniola. At the end of the war, Spain, Britain, and France signed a treaty that gave France part of Hispaniola which they named Saint-Domingue. They produced a lot of sugar there.

France and Britain signed a treaty. Now, there was peace in Europe and between the two countries. Instead of focusing on Britain, Napoleon could concentrate on getting back Saint-Domingue. Also, Louverture can't get special help from Britain.
