Chaos--an unexplained abyss--existed before anything in the universe came into creation. Chaos gies birth to Night and Erebus--the unfathomable depth where death dwells. In the beginning there was only darkness and death!!! -
A Great Change Has Come
Miraculously, this dark, hopeless void or abyss gave birth to LOVE. One version talks of Night laying an Egg in the depths of Erebus that gives birth to love. Regardless, LOVE is the first force in the universe to be created that leads to life. We could conclude that LOVE is the most powerful force on Earth (more so that even darkness or death) in the ancient Greek world.
