    In July of 1925, a substitute teacher was said to have violated the Tennessee Butler Act and had taught human evolution which was forbidden at the time. This went to trial and was known as The Scopes (Monkey) Trials.

    After years of being in the dark due to Herbert Hoover, a new president was finally elected. FDR (Franklin Delanor Roosevelt) was elected in 1933. In his first 100 days in office, he passed 15 bills/laws. Also in 1933, he put in place the New Deal, which counteracted the effects of the Great Depression.

    Here Comes the Storm
    Beginning in 1993 and lasting all the way until 1936 was the Dust Bowl. This affected the entire Mid-West and some of the West. During this time period, drought and wind scattered topsoil that exposed sand and grit underneath. As this occurred, it made it easy to be picked up by wind, which then created the large dust storms. These storms allowed for soil to get in peoples lungs and destroyed their agricultural standards.

    When Roosevelt was first elected in 1933, the United States was unsure about him. Over time, they began to accept him enough that he ran for reelection in 1940. Unexpectedly, he won and continued being 32nd president. Sadly, FDR died during his presidency in 1945.
