Mother Teresa was born in Macedonia under the name Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu (which would later be changed). She was the youngest of three children.

Leaving home she joined the Sisters of Loreto at Loreto Abbey in Rathfarnham, Ireland, with the intention of becoming a missionary.

Taking her religious vows as a nun she changed her name to Teresa and dedicated her life to God.

While travelling on a train Teresa experienced what she called as as "the call within the call". At this time she made the decision to leave the convent and help the poor.

Teresa starts the diocesan congregation, the Missionaries of Charity. Intending to care for those that were less fortunate in society.

In 1952, the Home for the Dying was opened. It was a place where people could receive medical help and be able to die with dignity.

During this year Mother Teresa opened a home for orphans and homeless youths. It was called the Children's Home of the Immaculate Heart.

Mother Teresa dies in Calcutta, India.
