    His father wanted Golding to follow in his steps. Golding was also scared of the dark. Golding also attended the school his father taught at.

    He attended Brasenose College at Oxford in 1930. He studied science and then switched to literature. He graduated in 1935 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a diploma in education.
  • Career

    Career

    He worked as an actor, writer, and producer in a small theater living in London and also worked as a social worker. He did this between 1935-1939. He started teaching English in 1939.
  • Royal Navy

    Royal Navy

    Golding joined the Royal Navy in 1940 and lasted till 1945. He wrote about his wartime and inspired people. He got to be in command of a rocket launching craft. This experience was an eye-opening experience to him about humans and human nature.
