  • Hitler is Elected

    In 1933, Hitler is elected with more than thirty-three percent of the vote and he takes advantage of the population using the Treaty of Versailles. This is important for Germany since after the election of Hitler many events after his election Hitler was the one responsible for them.
  • End of World War II

    With the end of World War II in 1945, it also marked the end of the totalitarian third Reich and the country of Germany gets divided into four allies. These allies divide Germany into four parts. The Western nations unite their three zones and install a democracy when the USSR creates a communist regime in the Eastside. This is important for Germany because the east and the west were made into different kinds of governments which one worked and the other did not.
  • Berlin Wall

    In 1961, The Eastside of Germany is on low standards of living due to its command economy. People from East Germany are jealous of the West and so it begins emigration problems and soon the Berlin Wall is built. This is important for Germany because emigrants weren't able to cross the border anymore causing them to be stuck in a communist regime.
  • Fall of Berlin Wall

    In 1989, people who live on the east side are ready to leave, at this point, there is one way out and it is by Turkey. With the poor economy, huge pressure for a regime change, it has finally been decided to demolish the Berlin Wall which represents the fall of the communism in Germany and the united of both Germany's.
  • Angela Merkel is Elected

    In 2005, Angela Merkel is elected not being only the first female Chancellor of Germany but also being the first person born in East Germany to become a Chancellor.
