  • The Naturalization Act of 1790

    The Naturalization Act of 1790
    This was an act that required immigrants to learn English so they could be considered naturalized citizens.
  • Alien and Sedition Acts

    Alien and Sedition Acts
    Created four different laws to keep the United States safe during the war against the french. The four laws passed were
    -The Alien Act
    -Alien Enemies Act
    -Sedition Act
    -The Naturalization Act
    They helped deport Aliens and put strict rules to become a citizen.
  • Anti-Coolie Act

    Anti-Coolie Act
    This was an act to prevent transportation of the Chinese to America. Anyone that helped the transportation of Chinese would be penalized.
  • The Chinese Exclusion Act

    The Chinese Exclusion Act
    When U.S restricted the amounts of Chinese immigrants that could have came to the U.S.
  • Immigration Act of 1882

    Immigration Act of 1882
    This act was for any immigrant that came to the U.S port had to pay a $0.50 tax.

    It stopped companies or individuals from paying foregin people to come into the country to work for lower wages.

    The first Federal Immigration Station that checked incoming immigrants health
  • Expatriation Act

    Expatriation Act
    This act states that any woman that whom marries a foreign man loses her citizenship automatically. Helps reduce immigrants becoming citizens.

    Emergency Immigration Act
    This act temporarily limits the amount of immigrants that can come to the United States by doing quotas based on the rate birth of a country.(3%).
  • U.S Border Patrol within Immigration Services

    U.S Border Patrol within Immigration Services
    Congress created the U.S border patrol/ Immigration Services to secure borders.
  • The Chinese Exclusion Repeal Act

    The Chinese Exclusion Repeal Act
    After being in alliance with China, congress repealed the Chinese Exclusion from 1882 allowing Chinese into the U.S.
  • 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act

    1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act
    The bill gave unauthorized aliens the opportunity to apply and gain be legal in the U.S if they met the requirements. Also made it illegal for employees to hire illegal workers.
  • Illegal Immigration Reform & Immigrant Responsibility Act

    Illegal Immigration Reform & Immigrant Responsibility Act
    This act helped monitor visa users and visa abusers who stayed longer than they were suppose to. It also help strict border patrol. Any illegal action could have taken to consequences such smuggling aliens or any fraud documents.
  • Patriot Act

    Patriot  Act
    This Act was created after the U.S suffered from the attacks of September 11, 2001 that left a scar in everyones life. This act helped strict security and border patrol and stopped immigrants from crossing to the U.S in hopes of reducing terroism.

    This law stated the aliens had to be registered as citizens and are required to carry proof of citizenship with them at all times.
