A zoetrope is one of several pre-film animation devices that produce the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion. Created by William Horner.

Created by Charles-Emile Reynaud in 1877. The Praxinoscope used a strip of pictures that was placed around the inner part of a spinning cylinder. If someone looked in the mirrors they would see a rapid succession of images created by the motion, with a less distorted and brighter image than the Zoetrope had.
