Game Timeline, Intro to Game Design Week 1

  • Born

  • Pokemon Platinum

    Pokemon Platinum
My first game I owned as a kid and finished by myself, cementing gaming as hobby. I also began doing a lot of creation around games that i enjoyed playing at the time such as drawing and writing.
  • Minecraft

    Minecraft
Minecraft as a kid was a game where I lost myself in the game. The simplicity of the mechanics with the limitlessness of the things you could do created some of the fondest gaming memories.
  • Pokemon Black and White

    Pokemon Black and White
These two games me and my sister each played alongside each other. Sharing a gaming experience was new to me and added a lot to the enjoyment I got from playing.
  • Monopoly

    Monopoly
Monopoly was a great past time between my family. I loved the payoff system, where you had invested money into a property and as they approached your property the excitement and tension was a really entertaining dynamic between friends and family.
  • Ratchet and Clank: Gladiator

    Ratchet and Clank: Gladiator
On the PS2 it was the first time I'd played a multiplayer game with anyone. With my sister it added another layer to what a gaming experience could be to me.
  • Breath of The Wild

    Breath of The Wild
Being at the age where I got back into bigger more experience based games, Breath of the Wild was one of my personal favourite games I've played. The games world is a highlight, with subtle hints and landmarks that enticed me into exploration, while always seeming to reward you with something for your curiosity.
  • Minecraft

    Minecraft
Playing Minecraft again when I was a teenager with my young nephew was a lot of fun. The nostalgia of the game coupled with seeing my nephew explore Minecraft like I did at the same age facilitated some great memories and creations.
  • God of War 4 (PS4)

    God of War 4 (PS4)
God of War was one of the first games with a real emphasis on story and world lore that I played at an age where I could understand the games elements. The experience I had playing as the characters developed has always really stuck with me. It also really inspires me visually and cinematically to want to be apart of a production that results in such a grand experience for a viewer/player.
  • Valorant

    Valorant
Valorant is a competitive tactical shooter. The game is very well designed with the dev team being very connected to the game's condition. This is probably the first game though where I have found myself getting lost in to the point where I will struggle to pull myself away from the computer.
  • A Short Hike

    A Short Hike
A Short Hike is a short 2-6 hour about exploring a small island. Appreciating the design I watched a GDC talk explaining how the indie game was designed. This really inspired me in what type of game I wanted to make.
