    This battle started the French and Indian war and took place near present-day Uniontown. The battle lasted only 15 minutes. the French commander, Joseph De Jumonville, was killed and the French surrenendered shortly afterward.

    This battle took place near present-day Farmington. The French led an attack on Fort Necessity, but misjudged its position and went too far to the right giving General Washington time to attack. The Indians and Virginians decided to retreat leaving Washington and the British greatly outnumbered. Washington negotiated and surrendered.

    This battle took place near present-day Braddock. The French attempted to set up an ambush for the British but were delayed on their way there and ran into the British advance guard led by Thomas Gage who ordered his troops to fire on the French. This attack killed the French commander, Daniel De Baujeau. The French still won the battle, killing at least 500 British including one commander named Edward Braddock. while only 30 French.

    Delawares took colonists prisoner and Alexander Culberson led a group of 50 militia in pursuit. when they caught up to the natives they were attacked. the colonists were beaten and Alexander was dead.

    Indians killed 2 colonists and ran off, intentionally leaving a trail of corn and setting up an ambush. John Mercer led about 60 colonists after them. when they passed the Indians they opened fire on the colonists killing Mercer and at least 16 other men instantly and chased down and killed all but 6.

    John Armstrong led 300 men to ambush an Indian camp near Kitanning, firing at gunpowder barrels, blowing up buildings and natives alike. This attack killed Captain Jacobs, a constant fighter in battles against the colonists.

    James Grant led over 800 men to attack the French fort which he believed held about 200 men. He was wrong and the fort had 500 French and 300 Indians. He sent a group of 50 soldiers to attack the fort head on and create a diversion while the others attacked from other sides. they were easily beaten and Grant was taken prisoner.
  • Fort Ligonier

    Fort Ligonier was under the command of Pennsylvanian captain James Burd while his commanding officer was away. Guards had been spread out and were attacked by 440 French and 150 natives. they retreated and Burd gathered all 2000 of his men to attack them. The French retreated and attacked again at dark. The British won with only 12 deaths.
  • End of the war

    The war in North America officially ended with the Treaty of Paris. 5 days later Europe stopped fighting as well. Britain told France that they could either have the Carribbean Islands or their land in North America east of the Mississippi. the French negotiated and claimed present-day Quebec in Canada.
