    Looey the 14th- The Religion Wars
    1572- (Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre, in Paris) caused a 6 week national slaughter of Huguenots.
    It occured when many huguenots nobles were in Paris attending a wedding for Catherine's daughter to a Huguenot prince; Henry of Navarre.

    This war was a religous war between Lutherans and Roman Catholics. Calvinism had became a popular religion in a number of states. Calvinism is an alternative form of Catholism The Calvinists began to demand reconigtion of their religious rights. The Thirty Years War began as a result of a conflict in the Haspsburg-ruled Kingdom of Bohemia.

    After the Italian Cardinal Mazarin and then Louis XIV (Looey the 14th) inherited the throne. *Looey inherited the throne in the last 5 years of the Thirty Years War.

    Het Rampjaar (Dutch) means the year of disaster
    This War was fought by: France, Sweden, the Prince-Bishopric of Münster, the Archbishopric of Cologne and England VS the Dutch Republic, the Austrian Habsburg lands, Brandenburg and Spain joined to leave *(whitched formed a quadruple alliance.) Sadly the war ended with the Treaty of Nijmegen (1678), which gave France control over the Franche-Comté and some cities in Flanders and Hainaut.
