Neither side actually won the war, it was more of a civilian war than anything. Until this day the war still goes on since a peace treaty was not signed.

This meant that whites and blacks would now be able to drink out of the same water fountains and attend the same schools. Although this law was passed, racism was still very high and some might say this might have spiked even more violence and hatred towards colored people.

The South Korean forces, supported by th United States, was up against North Korean communist forces, supported by the Soviet Union. Unfrotunately, the United States withdrew forces leading to North Vietnamese victory, This war was highly protested in the 70's.

    The little rock nine was a group of african american students who attended an all white school. The students were allowed to attend by President Eisenhower and were asked to be escorted by all white soldiers. This was a direct result from the Supreme Court decision for the case Brown v. Board of Education.

    The Freedom Riders were a group of peaceful protesters who fought for desegregation. The first freedom ride left Washington D.C. on May 4, 1961. In Birmingham, Alabama, police commisioner Bull Conner, a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan, planned to end the ride as soon as they arrived. Upon arrival, the buses were attacked by mobs.

    The Cuban Missle Crisis was a nuclear bomb face off betwwen the United States and Soviet Union. In October American spy plane spotted a missle being built by the Soviet in Cuba. President JFK did not want the Soviets to find out, although he spoke to the American public about the missles later on. The U.S, formed their own weapons as well, but both sides withdrew their deadly weapons.

    Martin Luther King Jr. was an activist for civil and equal rights in the 1960's. His form of protesting differed from Malcom X and most activits at the time, he did not believe in using violence. On April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennesse, MLK was assassinated for adovcating his beliefs.

    On May 4, 1970, four students at Kent State University were shot and killed to death by the Ohio National Guard. The students were gathered at the campus to protest the expansion of the Vietnam War into Cambodia. When the national guard attempted to disperse the crowd the students resisted and that is when the National Guard opened fire.

    The Watergate Scandal was a direct result from the dreak in of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate complex in Washington D.C. Nixon was accused of the break ins since it was related to his re-election. When he was finally caught, he resigned. The Watergate scandal created distrust for the government.

There were several attempts made by the U.S. to rescue the hostages, but failed. Finally. on January 20, 1981, after several negotiations. This event sparked the war on terrorism.

    The intermedaite range nuclear forces treaty eliminated nuclear missles between the United States and the Soviet Union within ranges of 500 to 5,500 kilometers. During the Cold War, the Soviet Union and the United States had several nuclear bomb face offs to the point of self-destruction.

    The Invasion of Kuwait was a conflict between the Republic of Iraq and the State of Kuwait which resulted in the later intervention of the United States in the Gulf War. in 1990, Iraq accused Kuwait of stealing Iraqi petroluem through slant drilling. Within two days, Kuwait armed forces were overrun by Iraqi Republican Guard.
