    Dwight Eisenhower Inauguration
    Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower was inaugurated into office as the 34th President of the United States. He won the reelection against Adlai Stevenson II by a landslide, even though there were concerns of his health because of a heart attack he suffered in 1955. But, in the case of Brown vs. Board of Education, he was hesitant to back up the Supreme Court on the verdict that the segregation was unconstitutional.

It was a war between the split country of communist North Vietnam, and the government of South Vietnam, which sided with America as a democracy.     The hit kids show Sesame Street premieres its first episode on National Education Television.     The Watergate Scandal was a break-in directed by 37th President, Richard Milhous Nixon. He had secretly sent 5 men to break into the Democratic National Committee to get an upper hand on his reelection campaign by stealing the opposing party's information. The men were caught inside the building attempting to fix some defective microphones, and the guard that caught them assumed NIxon was involved by the President's number in their phones, and White House documents on their person.

    This controversial act by former Vice President Gerald Ford was to pardon recently resigned President Richard Nixon for whatever charges he would have faced for directing the Watergate break-in.   • Ronald Reagan Shot

    Ronald Reagan Shot
    Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, was shot in the armpit by the attempted assassin, John Hinckley Jr., aged 25 at the time. Reagan did survive the attempt though, as it was revealed, that the President suffered no permanent damage, and could continue with his term. It was later found, that Hinckley shot Reagan because he wanted to impress actress Jodie Foster, who was 19 at the time.
  • Space Shuttle Challenger Explodes

    Space Shuttle Challenger Explodes
    The Space Shuttle "Challenger" explodes in the air shortly after lift off, where all seven crew members were killed. It was later found out, that the crew members didn't die when it exploded, but were well and alive, until after the shuttle hit the ocean moments later. Many people hadn't realized the ship exploded until further examination of the flight path.
