    This was the dispute between communism and non communism dividing Korea into North Korea and South Korea. North Korea was supported by the United nations and the democratic people supported the south. The Korean war was the first fighting action of the cold war. Korea is still divided today.

  • Emmett Till Murder

    Emmett Till Murder
    The death of a 14 year old of African american teen. This was one of the facts that emerged the civil rights movement. Supposedly he flirted/ whistled at a white. Causing 4 days later two white men to brutally beat and shoot the young boy. The two white men were found not guilty. People brought themselves and their children to view Emmett Tills open casket which caused outrage across the African American community.

    The little rock nine
    The event were 9 African American children offered to enroll in little rock central high-school. This was after the surpreme court had issued brown vs. board of education. Segregationist refused to let thenin children enter the school so the following day president Eisenhower had to send in actual army troops to excort the children in and out of school everyday.

    Freedom riders
    This was a group of 13 people both African American and white activist who started "freedom rides" or peaceful protest across the U.S. Protesting segregation they were recruited by the (CORE). The group faced violence from white protest throughout their route. Eventually in September 1961 they achieved desegregating bus and train stations.

    This was a group of African American people formed in California who played a big role in the civil rights movement. Black panthers believed that MLK's non violent campaign was not making changes fast enough. Huey Percy Newton and Bobby Seale were the two founder of the BPP. They wanted a revolutionary war with desires of equality in education, housing, employment and civil rights

    Martin Luther King Jr.'s Assassination
    MLK one of the civil rights leaders was assassinated in Memphis Tennessee. His assassination angered the black community causing riots in more than 100 cities around the country. This caused a positive speeding process for an equal housing bill. Soon after his death a campaign was made establish a national holiday in honor of him on the 3rd Monday in January each year.

    JFK was assassinated while traveling through Dallas, Texas in an open convertible car. He was accompanied by Texas Governor John Connally how was also shot by the same bullet, and his wife who was unharmed. JFK's assassination assured that eventually the civil rights bill would be passed.

    Neil Armstrong and Edwin Buzz Aldrin were american astronauts who became the first people to land place their feet on the moon. "Thats one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" is Armstrogs famous words as he leaped on the moon. Apollo 11 mission was eight years after president JFK annonuced a national goalof landing a man on the moon.
