    The 13 colonies declared independence from Britain and names themselves the Unitied States of America in a document. Many famous people signed it, such as Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock, and many more.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    The Monroe Doctrine was established to basically tell all European countries to stay out of America, and we will stay out of their territory. It was established by President James Monroe on December 2, 1823.
  • Roosevelt Corollary

    Roosevelt Corollary
    Teddy Roosevelt basically added on to the Monroe Doctrine because of concern that conflict between Venesuala and Europe would spark, so the U.S. could invade and take action if needed, but other countries cannot invade the U.S.

    More than 16 million people died in this war. Most consider it one of the deadliest wars. It is also known as The Great War. It was centered in Europe and it was Allied Powers (Canada, Britian, South Africa, New Zealand, U.S., etc.) vs. Central Powers (Germany, Bulgaria, Baden, etc.). Allied Powers ended up winning.

    A British oceanliner was torpedoed by a German U-boat and sunk. 1,198 people died and 128 of them were Americans. This triggered the beginning of World War I, which then lead to World War II.

    The Germans set up concentration and death camps for Jews, Gypsies, and more. They committed a mass genocide, and the U.S. and other countries stepped in and to war with them. On Sep. 2, 1945 the war ended and Germany lost. Hitler was killed.

    The attack on Pearl Harbor happened at Pearl Harbor and the Hawaii Territory. It was a surprise attack on the U.S. by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The attack happened at 7:48 A.M. and 2,403 Americans were killed due to this attack.

    Bombing of Hiroshima
    The United States dropped an atomic bomb of Hiroshima and killed 10,000s of people. This bomb was the equivalent of 20,000 tons of dynamite.

    Truman Doctrine
    President Truman established this document. Since Britian could not support Greece or Turkey any longer, the United States was willing to take on this responsibility.

    The U.S. gave aid to Europe to help rebuild the economies after World War II. The U.S. ended up giving Europe $17 billion dollars to help.

    This war was located in North Vietnam, South Vietnam, and parts of Cambodia. It is known as the Resistance War Against America in Vietnam. In the end, North Vietnam ended up winning against America and its allies.

    The Eisenhower Doctrine was established by president Eisenhower on January 5, 1957. It states that if Middle East countries need foreign aid, we will help.

    Operation Desert storm was also known as the Gulf War. It was the Coalition forces (U.S., Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, U.K., France, etc) vs. Iraq. This was triggered by Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

    People from the terrorist group Al-Queda hijacked multiple planes and crashed two into the World Trade Center. Thousands of people died because they couldn't get out of the buildings, or they jumped because they didn't want to suffer.

    This war is still going on today, This war was caused by September 11, 2001 Taliban air-strike attacks that caused the World Trade Center in New York City to collapse.
    In 2011, we killed Osama Bin-Laden, leader of the terrorist group Al-Queda. The purpose of going into Afghanistan is to stop Al-Queda and make sure there are no more terriorist groups.
