The Indian Removal act was passed by Andrew Jackson. This act forced the Native Americans to walk more than 5,000 miles west. If they refused, they were threaten and marched out at gunpoint. The Cherokee tribe took this to court, and it was ruled unconstitutional. Andrew Jackson still did it anyway, saying "They have made their decision, now let them enforce it."
