This was a time where big business and big companies became more popular and started coming together in more urban areas. -

The Progressive movement was a turn-of-the-century political movement interested in furthering social and political reform, curbing political corruption caused by political machines, and limiting the political influence of large corporations. -
The Jazz Age
The jazz age was a time where cars, radios, telephones, and electric appliances were created. -
The Great Depression
A time of great struggle for all. Where there were no jobs or people working, little money and little food. This was due to a deflation. -
The New Deal
The new deal was a series of programs and projects president Franklin D. put into place trying to help the American people out of the Great Depression. -
World War Two
An atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, causing Japan to surrender. -
The Great Society
The Act provided better access to home mortgages and a rent-subsidy program. Johnson's Great Society policies birthed Medicare, Medicaid, the Older Americans Act, and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. -
Cold War
The Red Scare was hysteria over the perceived threat posed by Communists in the U.S. during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States, which intensified in the late 1940s and early 1950s. -

The civil rights movement was an empowering yet precarious time for Black Americans. The efforts of civil rights activists and countless protesters of all races brought about legislation to end segregation.
