  • The start of it all

    the start of history in 1878. It was a $25,000 bet of wether a horse has all of its hooves off the ground while galloping. The originator of this bet was Eadward Muybridge to prove he was correct him and a group of his friends took multiple photos of a horse that when put together and flipped through made a moving image
  • Next step

    The next step in film was created by Thomas Edison it was a single person projector called the peephole. This peephole showed a "moving image". He wanted to keep it this way because there was more profit from each person rather than a group
  • Lumiere Brothers

    The Lumiere brothers Auguste and Louis made a better version of the peephole called the Cinematograph. the Cinematograph showed 30 second to 60 second movies. This became widely more popular than Edison's invention.
  • Fleischer brothers

    The Fleischer brothers made the first animated cartoons that had a soundtrack in 1924. This cartoon was called Ko-Ko Song Car-Tunes. it was a series of 36 films and was the precursors to karaoke with sing along lyrics.
  • The Short First

    in 1938 a film by the name The Terror of Tiny Town withe the tag line Little Guys Big Guns was created. The most interesting part is the fact that the entire cast were "all-midget". they played cowboys and cow girls and it was an amusing novelty and was one of the worst fils ever made.
  • Long-term

    in 19 46 Bobby Driscoll was a child star of Song of the South. He also stared is Treasure Island later on in 1950. he was the first kid to sign off on a long-term contract with Disney Productions.
  • The Magazine

    A legendary film critic and theorist by the name of Andre Bazin. Made an very influential and distinguished french film journal Cahiers du Cinema which means inema notebooks. this was the most influential film magazine in film history.
  • Studies

    In 1986 film studies took a leap in undergraduate classes in the US. estimates say about 60,000 students enrolled. Out of these students they were split up between 1.500 film courses and 120 colleges.
  • Shrunk the Kids

    in 1989 the film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids was an unexpected huge hit for its time. Also for its time it was the highest grossing live action Disney film bringing in $130.7 million. It was the 5th ranked film of the year which led to two sequels.
  • Disney's Success

    Disney's success continued to rise over the years. One of their successes was Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the b was the first first fully animated film and was nominated for best picture by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
  • Independence

    In 1996 the disaster sci-fi action film Independence Day was debuted during summer. It earned over $50 million on its opening weekend. It was the first feature-length movie to make $100 million in its first week breaking Jurassic Parks record.
  • LEGO

    2014 was the year of Lego at this time The Lego Movie was the 5th highest grossing film of the year. It was the most commercially successful film made by Warner Bros. Pictures. However it was not one of the nominees for best Animated Feature Film.
