After graduating from college, she started working in the Ankara agency of a New York-based travel company called American Export Lines. She became the chief of the marine department of this company, where he worked for 2 years.She learned English and French fluently, and also tried to learn Italian.

Came to Istanbul

At the insistence of her high school friend Oya San's mother, Filiz Akın sent her photo to the competition organized by the Artist magazine and won first place in 1962. Magazine managers and filmmakers came from Istanbul to Ankara to convince her, but she was not convinced. when Memduh Ün came to Ankara and insisted, she accepted the offer. Her trust in the managers of the magazine and Memduh Ün, who helped her, helped her start filmmaking.
